Andrea Annie, Photographer

My name is Andrea Annie I am from USA .  I enjoy photography as an art where I express myself in an unique way.

The pleasure of capturing a moment that does not repeat is thrilling. Photos are stories and history speaking through time, memories.
I love the freedom of photographing what speaks to me in many different  ways, angles, and perspective, a process of creation into fine art.

INTERVIEW

Thank you so much for agreeing to an interview for our new arts initiative.

Herewith a couple of questions for you but please feel free to add anything you might want to. You can be as elaborate as you want on your answers!

From which age or happening did you start having an interest in photography?

My interested started a few years ago with black and white photos. I was going through some family pictures from Brazil that my mother sent to me, and I fell in love with the complexity of the scenes.

Who do you greatly admire in the photographic arena and in other areas of the arts?

Saul Leiter, Man Ray, Sally Mann, Sarah Moon, Francesca Woodman, Ted Forbes, Rudi Huisman, Pedro Meyer, Claudia Andujar, Sebastiao Salgado and others.

Art for me is emotional freedom materialized in many different cultural concepts in different time frame.

I enjoy art in general, Georgia O’Keeffe, Louis Bourgeois, Frida, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall are my favorite ones. I love how surrealist artists concept their art work.

I also enjoy a good story, my favorites writers are Sue Monk Kidd, Jose Saramago, Langston Hughes, Pablo Neruda, Clarice Lispector, Humberto Eco, Agatha Christie, Paulo Coelho, Sylvia Plath, Dan Brown,etc..

Do you think of particular themes at a time and how much time do you spend on planning this?

I look and let the bond happens. Sometimes in particular themes or go free style. Usually when I shoot inside my art corner I like to experiment different types of prep material, textures, angles, light, composition, and let my creativity speak out. Preparation time vary with each project that I am involved with it.

Do you have to travel much to get exactly that special scene for your photography?

Not necessarily, I think the most important thing for me is to see that special moment that catches your eyes speaking back to you.

Do you often just see something and know you have to capture it right away?

Yes, often Lol

Do you consider freedom of expression in art a fundamental right of creators and why?

Yes, because is a form of freedom to express yourself and communicate with others through art with ethical conduct, responsibility, and critical thinking.

Do you think that creativity should be a priority of educational systems and how would you encourage it?Yes, I do

Creativity open a fan of possibilities. The use of imagination to create those possibilities thinking and solving problems. Creativity provides opportunities to try new ways of doing things. Encouraging children to express themselves through uniqueness and diversity of learning.

I believe children are natural creative in their plays, simply encourage them with opportunities to flourish even more their self-expression through different leads.

Let's talk about creativity. What role should creativity play in society?

Creativity provides tools for freedom through self-expression and self-awareness. Also, is a route of authenticity, confidence, enjoyment, and diversity of ideas.

What message would you like to convey with your photography?

When you look to an image there are millions of possibilities.

What or who inspires you?

I am inspired by the world that I see it.

What are your other interests?

I have taste for simple things, traveling, reading, painting, and family.
